Permits

As of May 1st, 2008 The City of Winnipeg requires Commercial Mechanical Contractors to have both an "M3" Mechanical License as well as a Mechanical Permit for mechanical work undertaken within The City of Winnipeg.

"M3" Mechanical Contractors License Qualifications

  • The applicant shall be limited to the construction, installation of kitchen Exhaust Systems and the equipment and apparatus necessary to achieve Code compliance for same.
  • The applicant shall be and/or employ the services of a "Fire Suppression Company" that is;
    • a Licensed "M2" Mechanical Contractor; and/or
    • a ULC listed company; and/or
    • possess certification from a recognized Manufacturer.

The holder of a Mechanical Contractors License "M3" shall be permitted to perform or have work performed in conjunction with kitchen exhaust systems and fire protection systems for Building Code and National Fire Protection Association standards compliance.
